On Saturday, December 12th,whatever decisions come out of the Paris Climate Summit, the global climate movement will rise up to send a signal that the people, not government officials, are leading the transition to renewable energy. We are ready to build a new society. Here in Northern Illinois, two local actions will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to a renewable energy future.
In DeKalb, Illinois:
Action: Saturday, December 12 – Time 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Start: NIU Permit Lot 12 on Castle Dr. at 397 West Lincoln Highway (Rt. 38)
Action: Saturday, December 12th, time 1:00 PM. Meet at Kimball Street and Grove Avenue. Google maps We will walk from there West on Kimball to Route 31, South on 31 to Chicago Street. We will cross the street at Chicago Street and walk North on Route 31 to Kimball, and from there return to our starting point at Kimball and Grove.
In both DeKalb and in Elgin, we will be carrying a giant puppet in the shape of a pipeline. Our message, directed toward all, but especially towards the Enbridge oil company, will be Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground. Thank you especially to David Stocker and the Northern Illinois Justice League for constructing that puppet.
